USDF/ABIC Region 3 Championships

Tennessee Represented Well

Jane Cleveland and EnigmaJane Cleveland of Nashville led four victory gallops with her two horses Kavalier and Enigma. With Enigma, she won the PSG and I-1 amateur title (65.2, 67.2%) and was reserve champion in the Intermediare I freestyle (68.3%). Kavalier was champion in the second and third level amateur division.

Cleveland is the consummate amateur, working full time for a real estate investment firm, boarding her horses out, and riding at 6 a.m. or 6 p.m. She braids her own horses, and designed her own freestyle. (After all, she IS from "Music City") She trains largely on her own, with occasional help from clinician Jan Brons.

Her 5- year old Trakehner gelding Kavalier (Amatcho, Kandice) was ranked 10th in the FEI Young Horse World Championships in Verden, Germany this past August.

Jane Cleveland and Kavalier"What an adventure!" Cleveland exclaimed. "It was difficult and challenging to go to Germany for three weeks by myself, but then when I look back on it, it's the most rewarding thing I've ever done."

Loading a German dictionary into her palm pilot, she lived in a non-English speaking environment for the duration. "When you're by yourself, you make more friends… It was the most fun I've ever had at a horse show. I learned so much."

Enigma is an elegant bay 7-year old Westphalian gelding (Ehrentusch / Anastasia). "This is a growing year for him," Cleveland said. "He's just now getting strong enough for this." Cleveland's self designed freestyle was to, appropriately, "Enigma", a techno dance band piece.
