AMARILLO, Texas - The American Quarter Horse Association and the National Horse Judging Team Coaches Association have captured the AQHA World Championship Judges Contest on two videos-now available to those wishing to learn more about judging American Quarter Horse classes.

Audiences have the opportunity to judge each class prior to the announcement of official placing and cuts. The 60-minute Western video features western pleasure, western riding, trail, reining and two halter classes. The 30-minute English video features hunter hack, pleasure driving, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle and two halter classes. Video may be purchased separately for $24.95 plus shipping or together for $40 plus shipping.

The National Horse Judging Team Coaches' Association works to provide and enhance communication and networking among coaches; encourage consistency among contests; promote and encourage training for coaches and students of horse judging; attract people to competitive horse judging; and promote closer public relations among all parties interested in and associated with the horse industry.

The NHJTCA meets at least semi-annually at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress and at the AQHA World Championship Show. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these videos will benefit the NHJTCA Scholarship Program.

In 2001, 422 AQHA-approved judges were responsible for judging nearly 2,700 AQHA-approved shows across the country. Judges are responsible for overseeing the conduct of both the horse and exhibitor during each class and determining whether each entry fulfills the class requirements. They, along with the show management and officials, help enforce all rules of AQHA and the show.
