Racing Ownership Seminars Slated Throughout the Summer

AQHA Racing's "Racehorse 101 Seminars" Reaching Out To New Owners

Amarillo, Texas - More than a decade ago, the American Quarter Horse Association became the first organization in racing to launch a national marketing campaign. One of the goals of AQHA's marketing campaign for racing was to increase sales of the racing American Quarter Horse by reaching out to and educating prospective owners.

Since the early 1990s, AQHA has developed brochures, videotapes, owners kits and a comprehensive Web site (www.4ahorse.com) all designed to meet that goal. In addition, AQHA also is hosting a series of fun, educational and interactive seminars across the country to assist people who want to own "America's Fastest Athlete - the racing American Quarter Horse."

"Through Racehorse 101, we are trying to provide a direct link between prospective owners and trainers," said Staci Smith, AQHA's Racing Services Manager. "We want people who attend these seminars to walk away with a clear understanding of how easy it is to become an owner and start enjoying the adventure that racehorse ownership brings."

Aspects of owning a racing American Quarter Horse will be discussed at Racehorse 101 seminars, which are being held in conjunction with major yearling sales. Topics of discussion for the free seminars include buying a yearling, choosing a trainer, syndicates and partnerships, transportation and insurance.
