Saturday, November 24, 2001 --- After the first day of competition, the National Reining Horse Association Futurity is off to a great start. On Friday, the first section of the first go of the Open Futurity began at 7 am, and 134 horses later, the lead - in both the Open and Intermediate Open Futurity - was held by Whitesboro, Texas trainer Pete Kyle on Im So Anson. The good mare is by Peppy Sol Anson and she's the first embryo transfer foal out of Dun It The Hard Way, the mare on which Pete is currently leading the NRHA Open Standings. Kyle's score of 220.5 was just a half point ahead of Carlos Deleu on Go Big Easy Doc, owned by Ann Melvin of Dallas, Texas.

In the Limited Open division, Stephen Siadik scored 213 on Top This Rooster, owned by Janet Lagle of Cambridge, Ohio, to lead the field.

Mandy McCutcheon of Pilot Point, Texas, is leading the Non Pro Futurity after the first section with a 216.5 on Miss Tuff Enterprise. Just behind her with a 214.5 is Kim Lansidel on Da Chics Tune, owned by Karl & Marjorie Eilers of Renton, Washington. Kim is also leading the Intermediate Non Pro competition. In the Limited Non Pro, Gene Huss of Fremont, Indiana, leads on Bingos Sure Slide with a 211.5.

Futurity action continues today with another section of Open competition which began at 7 am, as well as another section of Non Pro exhibitors, beginning at 6 pm.
