2002 AQHYA World Championship Show Concludes as New Executive Committee Directors Are Elected

Fort Worth, Texas - August 12, 2002 -The 2002 American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Show and Convention concluded Saturday, August 10 at the Will Rogers Memorial Complex in Fort Worth.

Elections were held on Friday and Saturday, August 2 and 3. Candidates were chosen for their office during the general membership meeting on Saturday, August 3.

Those serving in leadership roles for the 2002-2003 year are:

"We are excited about new officer elections," said Christa Morris, Senior Manager of Youth Activities and AQHYA. "Many of the AQHYA Directors and Executive Committee Members are veteran officers, enabling them to step into leadership roles and focusing on the directives set for AQHYA."

The 2002-2003 elections were the last elections held at the AQHYA World Championship Show. Annual election of officers will be held during the AQHYA Leadership Conference-a more appropriate place to host a convention. The annual AQHYA Leadership Conference brings youth from around the nation together for a weekend of team-building workshops, hands-on activities and leadership training.

"The Youth Leadership Conference is designed to educate AQHYA Members in issues that will face them as they head into 'the real world,'" said Morris. "The Leadership Conference also serves as a meeting place for the AQHYA Executive Committee, Directors and their constituents-to discuss topics relating to AQHYA, its success and the needs of today's AQHYA Members."

The 2003 AQHYA Leadership Conference & Convention is scheduled for June 26-29 at the AQHA Headquarters in Amarillo, Texas.
