National Reining Breeders Classic Annual Reiners Golf Tournament

February 17, 2003 - There's no denying that top reiners have a special style, and nowhere is that more evident than at the National Reining Breeders Classic Annual Reiners Golf Tournament. Whether it's an unusual putting technique or distinctive non-reining attire, this tournament provides plenty of excitement. For most of the top Non Pro and Open exhibitors, a day on the links is just what the doctor ordered for mid-April and the annual event is a fun mix of skill and laughs!

This year, the action takes place on Monday, April 14, with the first tee-off time at the Cinco Ranch Golf Club in Katy, Texas set for 11 am. According to tournament coordinator and top Non Pro reiner Dave Archer, the event will feature 40 participants making up 10 teams, and a day of golfing is just minutes away from the reining action. “The Cinco Ranch Golf Club is only one block from the Great Southwest Equestrian Center, making it easy for the riders to participate,” commented Archer.

As usual, the competition is expected to be enthusiastic and rewards are offered for exceptional performance. “Besides cash to the winners and bragging rights on the perpetual trophy, there are a host of other awards. A buckle is give for each "closest to the pin" on all par threes – and the last place team gets a free Mexican Dinner. Cinco Ranch Golf Club is giving away golf for two for the longest drive, as well. An entry fee of $60 takes care of the green and cart fees.

The tournament is conducted on a scramble format, and reiners, sponsors, and owners can enter as a team, or will be assigned a foursome. To reserve a spot on a first-come, first serve basis, contact Dave Archer at 281-239-8971 or davidlarcher@msn.com.

The National Reining Breeders Classic is the most successful stallion incentive program in reining history. In just five years, the NRBC has grown to include over 220 subscribed stallions and nearly 9,000 enrolled foals, and the payout at the 2002 National Reining Breeders Classic exceeded $700,000.
