Tom McCutcheon Sweeps Intervet/USET Reining All Star Series

Gladstone, NJ—May 1, 2003—Tom McCutcheon of Pilot Point, TX, swept the Intervet/USET Reining All Star Series by capturing the second and final event of the Series riding Smartest Chic Olena, owned by Terry Owens, in Kansas City, MO, on April 27.

The competition lived up to its name with an all-star cast competing for the $25,000 purse. McCutcheon, the team Gold and individual Silver Medalist from the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain, scored a 221.5 which was good enough to defeat Casey Hinton of Whitesboro, TX riding Sunrise Enterprise, owned by Bob and Curtice McCloy. Hinton and Sunrise marked a 219.5, just edging out Craig Johnson of Gainesville, TX, who finished third riding Docs Whizin, owned by Jim Dun who finished with 218.5.

Pete Kyle of Whitesboro, TX, riding A Genuine Remedy, owned by Kimberly Wang of Kailua, HI, and Tim McQuay of Tioga, riding Arc Sparkle Surprise, owned by McQuay and Arrighi, also tied for fourth with Dell Hendricks of Tioga, TX, with 215, on Dunnit In Hollywood, owned by Hendricks, Hill and Craig.

“I am thrilled to win both legs of the series,” said McCutcheon, “especially competing against such top reiners. The Intervet/USET All Star Series was a great addition to the USET program.”

Following the class, Hendricks gave the appreciative audience at Kansas City’s Kemper Arena a short reining clinic as part of the USET’s continuing effort to educate the public about the newest international discipline.

The Intervet All Star Series is part of the new equine extravaganza called "Equus America", which includes two events featuring sessions with John Lyons along with a host of other prominent clinicians including Olympic Eventing veteran Bruce Davidson and USET
