World's Greatest Horseman Competition Begins on Thursday, June 3!

The World's Greatest Horseman returns June 3-5 to the Amarillo National Center, as a special event held during Cowboy Roundup USA.

Produced by the National Reined Cow Horse Association, the World's Greatest event celebrates the skills and training methods of the traditional California Vaquero and represents the most highly schooled cow horses in the world. Each entry is shown by one rider in cutting, reining, steer roping and cow work and the same bridle is used throughout.

Former winners Ted Robinson, Bob Avila and Ron Ralls lead a field of thirty horsemen who will vie for the opportunity to become one of the top ten finalists. Those finalists will compete in all four events on Saturday for a first place purse of $30,000.

The action begins on Thursday morning at 9 am with the Herd Work preliminaries.

For the second year, the elite All Around competition is being held in conjunction with the Coors Ranch Rodeo and Cowboy Roundup. There will be no admission charge to the World's Greatest Horseman until the Saturday night cow work finals, which is included in the Coors Ranch Rodeo ticket for the evening.

A special division of the World's Greatest Horseman competition features ranch cowboys in three of the four World's Greatest Events (they do not do the rein work). Points earned in World's Greatest ranch cowboy competition and the other Ranch Rodeo events will determine the World Champion Ranch Cowboy.
