National Reined Cow Horse Association Stakes Moves to Tucson August 13, 2004 - The National Reined Cow Horse Association has announced the dates and location of its 2005 NRCHA Stakes. According to Association President Benny Guitron, the event will be held at the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson, Arizona, on March 30 – April 3, 2005. NRCHA Sponsor Committee Chairman Carol Rose, along with NRCHA members Jim and Dema Paul, Kevin Stallings and Don and Suzanne Rogers, met with Jon Baker, Executive Director of the Southwestern Fair Commission, and Carrel Haught, Maintenance Manager of the Southwestern Fair Commission in early August to finalize the details. Rose noted, “NRCHA members and exhibitors Kevin and Karen Stallings, and Kevin’s customers, Don and Suzanne Rogers, of Tucson, were instrumental in laying the groundwork for moving the show to the Pima County Fairgrounds.” She also was quick to thank long-time NRCHA members, Jim and Dema Paul, for volunteering their time to visit the facility during the evaluation process. Carol added, "Jon Baker and Carrel Haught were great to work with as we were finalizing the details of this move. Thanks to Kevin and the Rogers’ for making this location become a reality. We’re excited to be bringing this major NRCHA show to the Pima County Fairgrounds, which has hosted many major American Quarter Horse Association Circuits over the years.” The Pima County Fairgrounds is approximately fifteen miles east of Tucson on Interstate 10 and three miles south on Rita or Houghton Roads. The NRCHA Stakes is an event for four- and five-year-old reined cow horses by NRCHA Subscribed Stallions. The horses are shown in a snaffle bit or hackamore in herd, rein and cow work.
