Legend NRCHA Celebration of Champions
NRCHA World Championship Show ~ World’s Greatest Horseman ~ SRCHA Derby February 19-26, 2005 Lone Star Arena, Stephenville, Texas It’s every exciting facet of cow horse competition! A year of competition comes down to one exciting show as World Championship Show exhibitors vie for world titles. The NRCHA World Championship Show features the top horses and riders from each of the NRCHA’s six geographic regions competing for World Championship titles in eleven exciting events. In the World’s Greatest Horseman, it all comes down to “One horse, one rider and one very special title.” And that’s one of the most prestigious titles in the horse world – representing a skill in both training and riding that few achieve. The rules are that simple. In one bit, horses of any age and any breed compete in four contests – herd work, rein work, steer stopping and cow work. The event had its roots in generations of All Around competition, and when it was created the World’s Greatest Horseman quickly became one of the most visible titles in the horse world. The Bayer Legend NRCHA Celebration of Champions also includes the Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association Derby, where the top 4 and 5-year-old cow horses are shown in herd, rein and cow work!
NRCHA Stakes March 30 - April 3, 2005 Pima County Fairgrounds, Tucson, Arizona The NRCHA Stakes features 4 and 5-year-olds by NRCHA Subscribed Stallions competing in snaffle bits and in hackamores. The competition includes many of the top Snaffle Bit Futurity horses from the previous years, as well as those who might not have been ready for the Futurity, but who are now able to perform competitively.
Hackamore Classic April 29 - May 1, 2005 Mid-State Fairgrounds, Paso Robles, California The National Reined Cow Horse Association’s Hackamore Classic is for horses 5 years of age and under that have never been shown in a bridle down the fence at any judged reined cow horse event. Horses are shown in a traditional hackamore with closed reins in herd, rein and cow work.
NRCHA Derby June 22-26, 2005 Mid-State Fairgrounds, Paso Robles, California “Where the best go next!” This premiere NRCHA event is for 4- and 5-year-old cow horses, and gives post futurity horses a further chance for great earnings. They are shown in a snaffle bit, whether or not they have been shown in a bridle elsewhere in their career, which is an exception to the normally strict bridle rule of the National Reined Cow Horse Association.
NRCHA World Championship Snaffle Bit Futurity September 20 - October 2, 2005 Reno Livestock Events Center, Reno, Nevada This high-profile event has probably created more fans for reined cow horses than any other single show. Since the first futurity in 1970, the Futurity has become a major spectator event with thousands of fans now making the trip each fall to the Reno Livestock Events Center in Nevada for twelve days of the world’s finest cow horse action. Horses entered in the futurity are 3-year olds, shown in a snaffle bit in Herd Work, Rein Work, and Cow Work. The herd work, or cutting, comes first, followed by the reining pattern in the rein work. The signature cow work, often called fence work, is where the horse holds or boxes the cow at the end of the arena, then turns in on the fence and finally circles it both ways in the arena. In addition to the 3-year-old snaffle bit competition, the show features NRCHA bridle and hackamore classes, the annual Hall of Fame Banquet, a huge Western Trade Show, and the very popular annual Snaffle Bit Futurity Horse Sales. |
