Justa Sugar Pep is the 2005 NRCHA Raffle Filly Donated by Ward Ranch

The National Reined Cow Horse Association and the historic Ward Ranch of Kingsburg, California have announced the selection of the 2006 NRCHA Raffle Filly. The annual Raffle is an institution for the NRCHA and several former raffle colts have gone on to win or place at the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity and other major events.

This year's raffle filly is a daughter of Reminics Pep, out of Justa Sugar, named Justa Sugar Pep.

As always, the raffle filly represents the genetic excellence of the Ward Ranch. Reminics Pep, a son of Reminic out of Peppy Remedy, has lifetime earnings over $135,000. He was the 1998 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Champion, then went on to be the Open Co-Reserve Champion at the River Front Farms NRCHA Derby. He was also successful in National Cutting Horse competition, making the semis at the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association Futurity, and a finalist finish at the Gold Coast winter Championship. He was also the 1999 Arizona Sun Circuit Open Derby Champion.

Justa Sugar Pep’s dam, Justa Sugar is an NRCHA money earner by Just Plain Colonel out of Sugarinic.

Raffle Colt tickets are sold by NRCHA members and by the NRCHA office, for just $10 each. The drawing is slated for October 1 during the final performance of the 2006 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity in Reno.

The Ward Ranch was founded in 1972 by NRCHA Hall of Fame member, Greg Ward and his family. Ward Ranch was built physically and genetically around the much-acclaimed mare Fillinic, one of the industry’s leading producers. The mother of 1972 champion, Sugarnic, and grandmother of 1981 futurity champion, Sugar Remedy, and many other futurity finalists are credited to this mare and her daughters. Her son, Reminic, is the sire of 1998 Snaffle Bit Futurity champion, Reminics Pep, and 1986 champion, Smokinic. Fillinic’s grandson, Master Remedy, is the sire of: Otoe Master, Master Chex, Masteroani, and Master Rani Chex.

The National Reined Cow Horse Association, the governing body of cow horse competition, is responsible for promoting the sport, insuring high standards of competition and educating members and the public about the history and tradition of the cow horse.
