Beerbaum of Germany Wins $100,000 COSEQUIN® Wellington Finale
Beerbaum was one of four qualifiers from the 40-horse field to advance to the tiebreaker jump-off round, where he was the only one clear over the eight-jump track in 46.44 seconds, beating U.S. Equestrian Team veteran Laura Kraut of Oconomowoc, WI, aboard Liberty, a 9-year-old Dutch-bred mare.
Beerbaum, who earned $30,000 for the victory, has been competing at the 2000 Cosequin Winter Equestrian Festival for the first time and finished strong. "I started off slow, but the last three weeks we did well," said the 29-year-old Beerbaum. "Lady Weingard jumped as well as she can jump (today). She was really fresh. In the jump-off, we decided to start off safe through the first few jumps and then go as fast as we can. That put enough pressure on the last two riders." Lady
Weingard's Breeding Information Her dam, Weingard (by Weinstern x Gotthard) is full sister to three geldings that were sold at the Vechta auctions in the 80ies, She also produced Lady Weingard's brothers Libertas (approved stallion at the Gestuet Reinsehlen stud 80 km south of Hamburg) Lindberg, champion stallion in South Africa, and - most importantly - Landkaiser, 1995 Oldenburg champion stallion (2 1/2 year-olds). He stands stud at the Boeckmann's. Landkaiser's dam line is based on a Hannoverian line. All horses named above were as foals sold at the Vechta auction. The breeder is Heiner Schuermann. He lives in Ahlhorn, a small village some 65 kilometers southwest of Bremen. Related
