Official 2004 Hampton Classic Horse Show Art Poster Selling Fast

Official 2004 Hampton Classic Art Poster by Jocelyn Sandor UrbanBridgehampton, NY – September 1, 2004 — The 2004 Hampton Classic is well underway and sales of the art poster by noted equestrian artist Jocelyn Sandor Urban are brisk.

Each year, the Hampton Classic Horse Show produces an art poster, a coveted souvenir that has become a sought-after collector’s item. The 2004 artwork of oil on linen depicts the recognizable scene of ‘stable row’ at the Hampton Classic Showgrounds as viewed from the horse show office. Vivid blue and white tents extend down both sides of the lane. Vendors sell their wares on the right while horses and grooms fill the tents on the left; the two rows are held in balance by the hustle and bustle of people, dogs, and horses sharing the experience. Bright sunlight brings out the natural and vibrant colors of the Hampton Classic show grounds.

This captured moment portrays a “quintessential Hampton Classic scene,” according to Urban. “You look at it and instantly know that it could not be any other horse show.”

Urban has displayed and sold her work at the Hampton Classic for more than sixteen years. She found herself taking photographs of ‘stable row’ each year and it was these pictures that provided the inspiration for the true-to-life painting.

Urban’s work is represented in Nantucket, MA, by the Four India Gallery and by the Holland and Company Gallery in Bedford, NY. Urban, who received a BFA from Skidmore College and a MFA in print making from The University of Massachusetts Amherst, is currently working on a series of paintings that combine racehorses and landscapes; several of these pieces are exhibited in her vendor tent at this year’s Hampton Classic.

The 2004 Hampton Classic art poster, including a limited number of signed editions, can be purchased on-site at the Hampton Classic stand in the Boutique Garden where other items including souvenir t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, mugs and other ‘Classic’ memorabilia can also be found. The 2004 Hampton Classic art poster, as well as past editions, can also be purchased on-line by visiting the Hampton Classic website at www.hamptonclassic.com.

Each year the Hampton Classic Horse Show attracts more than 50,000 spectators and celebrities to watch the country’s best horses and riders compete. With the crème de la crème of show jumping riders attending the show and a star-studded audience cheering them on, the Hampton Classic is week-long sports and entertainment spectacle as well as a benefit for the Southampton Hospital.

Admission is $10 per person or $20 per carload, with children under 6 admitted free. Reserved grandstand seating for Sunday, September 5 is $15 per person (in addition to regular admission) or $25 per person in the special Premium Seating center sections. Parking is free throughout the week
