Arabian Horses Dance into the Hampton Classic Horse Show

Bridgehampton, NY – September 2, 2004 — Visitors to the 29th annual Hampton Classic Horse Show, running August 29 to September 5, will be treated to a special exhibition of rare Egyptian Arabian horse when they visit this weekend.

Exhibited by Three Palms Arabians of Brookfield, CT, Whitehaven Plantation, SC, and Beshraka Egyptian Stud of Bridgehampton, NY, the Egyptian Arabians will be presented in full native costume, demonstrating their beauty and elegance in the World of the Horse exhibition tent throughout the weekend, September 3, 4 and 5, as well as making special appearances in the Grand Prix Ring between show jumping events. Representatives, including local resident Jennifer Faga of Beshraka Egyptian Stud, will be on hand to answer questions about this historic breed.

Comprising less than eight percent of the world’s total Arabian horse population, Egyptian Arabians are one of the oldest known breeds and are responsible for influencing nearly every modern breed of horse, including many of the thoroughbreds and warmbloods that are competing at the Hampton Classic. Known for their beauty, loyalty to human companions and supreme endurance, the Egyptian Arabian excels in many areas of horse sport competition, including the International Equestrian Federation-recognized discipline of endurance racing.

Throughout the Hampton Classic, families are welcome to visit the World of the Horse exhibition tent and show yard with its playground set contributed by Walpole Woodworkers. Located behind the main Grandstand, visitors can get up close and personal with the popular llamas and alpacas as well as the Millstones Farm’s miniature horses. There are pony rides for the kids, the Double-Bar-D petting zoo, Precious Parrot exhibition of rescued parrots & Macaws, and the Suffolk County’s SPCA will be on hand demonstrating cat and dog care.

Shopping is also a sport at the Hampton Classic with numerous shops in Stable Row and the Boutique Garden including the popular Hampton Classic vendor booth with its much-coveted merchandise such as souvenir t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, mugs and other ‘Classic’ memorabilia.

Each year the Hampton Classic Horse Show attracts more than 50,000 spectators and celebrities to watch the country’s best horses and riders compete. With the crème de la crème of show jumping riders attending the show and a star-studded audience cheering them on, the Hampton Classic is week-long sports and entertainment spectacle as well as a benefit for the Southampton Hospital.

Admission is $10 per person or $20 per carload, with children under 6 admitted free. Reserved grandstand seating for Sunday, September 5 is $15 per person (in addition to regular admission) or $25 per person in the special Premium Seating center sections. Parking is free throughout the week. For more information, please visit the Hampton Classic website at www.hamptonclassic.com
