"We are very pleased with the response that both the Charles Owen Children's and Adult Medals have received, said Tom Struzzieri, President and Owner of HITS. Each and every one of these riders have worked very hard to be here at the Finals, and we are dedicated to producing a prestigious event that acknowledges and rewards their talents." With a score of 84 after the first round, Rebecca Shipps led going into the work off. She held on to that lead to bring home the Medal, keeping it in Massachusetts to the delight of the home crowd. "I was really excited to be at the Finals to begin with," enthused Shipps. "We had a really good first round in the open and I had a good feeling. My horse Gettysburg was phenomenal, and I had one of the best trips I've ever had. I'm looking forward to competing in the HBO Junior Medal next year." Miranda Lekacos of Norwich, Connecticut finished in second place. Laura Ting of Dover, Massachusetts took third place in the competition.
