This year, during the National Preview (November 6-10, 2004) Spogli had her dream come true. She piloted Toy Story to the championship in the West Coast Pony Finals Medium section, and the pair had the highest score which earned the grand championship. "I love the West Coast Pony Finals," said the 10 year old rider. "It is the highlight of the year." In fact, she rushed back from the East Coast Indoors shows to compete in the West Coast Pony Finals.

In the Small section, eleven year old Amanda Moore of Bothell, WA guided her Serendipity to the championship. "This is really exciting. It's really fun and the competition is so good. I love coming here. We've been doing this for three years," said Moore. This was a bittersweet finish as she is selling Serendipity and moving up to the Children's Hunter division.

Lucy Davis rode her Enrico to victory in the Large Pony section. "This was my first time to do the West Coast Pony Finals," said the twelve year old rider from Brentwood, CA. "He really rose to the occasion," she said of her pony. "Riding indoors is really fun." Davis was also the Reserve Grand Champion.

The top six ponies from each height section qualify for the second round that is held in the covered Equidome at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Small, Medium and Large ponies are given separate prizes, and then the Grand Champion is awarded the Cymraeg Rainshower Perpetual Trophy to the pony with the highest overall score.

Pony riders from throughout California and as far away as the state of Washington make the annual trek to the West Coast Pony Finals and the final "A" show of season. "This was my first time showing in this," said twelve year old Grace Lukach who trains with Beverly Jovais. "I've had my pony for only a month and this is a nice way to end the year." Lukach earned reserve champion honors in the Large section of the West Coast Pony Finals.
