Buffalo, NY- September 17- A fantastic week of equestrian competition wrapped up today at the Buffalo International Horse Show, held at the historic Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center. The star of the weekend was 15 year old Kacey McCann, of Palmyra, Pennsylvania.

McCann started the day by sweeping the Junior Hunter division. She won the championship on the charming bay gelding, By the Way, owned by SBS Farms of Buffalo, NY. McCann also rode Trebuchet to the reserve championship. Trebuchet is owned by Jonathan and Jeffrey Phillips of Potomac, MD.

The highlight of the day was the $2,000 Handy Hunter Classic. Crowds filled the VIP sections to watch. Riders were allowed to choose their own course of ten jumps. McCann went in first on her own horse, My Way. They executed the course with crisp turns and scored an 85 from Judge Scott Williamson.

Merideth Bartolone and Once and Again were in next. Once and Again jumped beautifully and they received a score of 79. McCann followed on her championship winner, By the Way. By the Way was originally bought with the intention of being an equitation horse. The handy hunter course, with short rollbacks and broken lines, posed no problem for the clever gelding. They scored an 87. McCann also competed with Trebuchet, but no one in the class was able to beat By the Way’s high score.
