Olympic Stars Head Entry List at Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows

Lake Placid, NY-June 28, 2005-Olympic veterans Margie Goldstein Engle, Joe Fargis, Lisa Jacquin, and Anne Kursinski head an impressive list of riders who were on hand for the start of this year's Lake Placid Horse Show Tuesday at the North Elba Showgrounds in Lake Placid.

The 2005 Lake Placid Horse Show, June 28-July 3, and the I Love New York Horse Show, July 5-10, are once again hosting world-class equestrian competition, including two American Grandprix Association (AGA) Series events - the $60,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake Placid CSI 2* on Sunday, July 3 and the $75,000 Hermès I Love New York Grandprix CSI 2* on Saturday, July 9. The $60,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake Placid CSI 2* will be televised on Outdoor Life Network (OLN) and both Grand Prix events are FEI sanctioned, offering riders the opportunity to earn valuable points on the international rider rankings.

A 2000 Sydney Olympian, Margie Goldstein Engle also represented the United States in the 2003 Pan American Games where she helped the U.S. capture the team Gold Medal while also winning individual Bronze. In 2001, she became only the third rider in history to sweep both of the Lake Placid Horse Shows ' twin AGA Grand Prix events, winning the $50,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake Placid on Hidden Creek's Perin and the $50,000 I Love New York Grand Prix on Reggae. Engle, the AGA's only eight-time Rider of the Year, has won a total of six Grand Prix events at the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows.

Also competing at this year's Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows is two-time Olympian Joe Fargis. In 1984, Fargis won team and individual Gold Medals at the Los Angeles Olympics. He also won a team Silver Medal at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988. Fargis is a two-time Grandprix champion in Lake Placid, having won the I Love New York Grandprix in 1993 and again in 2000.

Another, two-time Olympian, Lisa Jacquin, helped the US win the team Silver Medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. She also rode for the US in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. She and her legendary partner For The Moment were also part of the US's Silver Medal team in the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis.

Member or alternate of four consecutive US Olympic Teams, including the Silver Medal teams at the 1988 Seoul and 1996 Atlanta Games, Anne Kursinki was also the first woman to win the $450,000 Pulsar Crown Grand Prix of Monterrey, Mexico. Her numerous titles include 1991 US Olympic Committee (USOC) Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year and 1995 AHSA/Hertz Equestrian of the Year.
