Beach County Horsemen’s Association Holds Successful Competition
in Wellington
The show featured three rings of competition on the world-famous show grounds that host the annual Winter Equestrian Festival every winter. The shows are becoming more and more popular for equestrians that live in South Florida. Many professionals also enjoy coming to the PBCHA shows to give their young horses and riders experience at a large facility. The PBCHA, one of the most important hunter/jumper associations in Florida, was founded in 1968. They are dedicated to the promotion and rewarding of quality horsemanship, sportsmanship, and fair competition in the disciplines of hunters, equitation and jumpers. PBCHA president Carol LeMaster believes that PBCHA is important for young horses and riders and provides the opportunity for a safe and supportive environment. She asserted, “The PBCHA horse show is an outstanding and rapidly growing example of this, and is made even better by having the show grounds in Wellington. The world class facility is a great place to start a young hunter, or to bring along a jumper prospect, or to simply just enjoy the day watching many families and children learning the virtues of a healthy and safe sport.” The PBCHA holds eight two-day events between April and November and host more than 25 divisions, ranging from Walk Trot Hunter to Open Jumper at 4 feet. The Open Jumpers are sponsored by Phelps Media Group, Inc. for the USET Foundation. Their affiliation with the United States Equestrian Team Foundation is through a love of promoting equestrian sport and building for the future. While their focus is mainly on supporting developing and international elite athletes, The United States Equestrian Team Foundation also hopes to promote the sport at a “grass roots” level. The United States Equestrian Team Foundation (www.uset.org) is the non-profit organization that supports the competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of America’s elite an developing international, high-performance horses and athletes in partnership with the United States Equestrian Federation. In addition to generous sponsors, the PBCHA show offered photos taken at each ring from Wild Eyes Photography and videotaping from Bayou Productions. Bayou Productions taped every round, which are available on CD-ROM and DVD formats, and will offer 15 second clips of each trip on their website later this week. The next show for the Palm Beach County Horseman’s Association will be held on September 10-11.
