“These grand prix have a great group of riders this year,” said Christine DeHerrera, media coordinator for the Park. “We’ve never given away the bonus, but this may be the year.” Grand prix show jumping is an Olympic sport that pits men and women equally against one another. Horses and riders will face towering obstacles five feet in height and up to six feet in width in front of thousands of cheering spectators. “These grand prix have become a tradition in the Denver area. For more than a decade top international riders have come to the Colorado Horse Park and the local fans have been very supportive,” said DeHerrera. The $25,000 High Prairie Grand Prix on July 8 begins at 5:00 with the opening ceremonies. The first horse on course is at 5:30 p.m. The $40,000 Rocky Mountain Grand Prix Presented by Murdochs takes place July 15 at 5:00, with the grand finale, the $60,000 Grand Prix of Denver Presented by Dillards and Ariat, on July 22 at 4:30. Spectators are welcome for all grand prix. Food and equestrian-themed shopping are available on the grounds. Tickets are $10; children are $5. Free parking.
