Albuquerque, NM—Horses Unlimited, one of the premier sport horse breeding establishments in the United States, brought home a trunk-full of ribbons, including several tri-colors, at the recent Tucson Fall Festival and Tucson Fall Classic Horse Shows. The Horses Unlimited stable was shown by grand prix rider Henrik Gundersen and junior rider Kristen Buckels.

Among the champions was Glorioso Noir, Horses Unlimited’s nine-year-old Hanoverian stallion, who earned his tri-color in the level three jumpers. “It is such a privilege to ride a horse of this caliber,” said Buckels, who has been riding the stallion for just six months. “I’ve worked hard to develop a relationship with Glory and it is really starting to pay off. His talent feels limitless.” In addition to his competition schedule, Glorioso is also a very active breeding stallion. Several of his 2006 foals were awarded premium status. He also sired the Top Colt and Top Filly at a recent American Hanoverian Society inspection.

Another Horses Unlimited stallion was also represented at the shows. Pik L’s daughter Pikachu HU earned the Children’s Hunter Championship during week one and finished second in the Marshall and Sterling Children’s Hunter Classic. Buchels explained, “She’s an easy going mare. She goes right in the ring and does her job.” Buchels may soon have to part company with the five year old as she is for sale.

Gundersen rode two of Horses Unlimited’s mares in the grand prix during the first week of the circuit. He finished third with the Hanoverian Song of Joy and sixth with Amata. Gundersen has had a very successful year in the grand prix ring. Among his victories--the $75,000 Footings Unlimited Grand Prix at HITS-on-the-Hudson. The Denmark-native has now returned to his home base in Florida where he will prepare for the busy winter circuits with several of Horses Unlimited’s jumpers.

The Tucson shows end a fantastic fall for Horses Unlimited. Their 12-year-old Selle Francais stallion Galant du Serein won the Grand Prix Freestyle at Dressage at Devon in September. “We are really pleased with all of our horses,” said Horses Unlimited’s President, Anne Sparks Whitten. “And we are fortunate that we have several top riders around the world who help develop their talent.”
