Alexandra Thornton Is Unbeatable for the Second Year in a Row at 2007 Hampton Classic Competing in the Small Junior 15 & Under Hunters, Thornton piloted Tobasco to two firsts and two seconds over fences and a first in the under saddle to take home the tricolor. In addition, their high placings earned them the overall championship in the Small Junior Hunters and the overall Grand Champion Junior Hunter award. This marks the second year that she has ridden to such a high accomplishment. Thornton, now age 13, made history last year as the youngest rider to win overall Grand Champion honors. She was also awarded the Raynes Trophy as the highest-scoring Junior Hunter rider of the show. In the Large Junior 15 & Under Hunters, Thornton rode High Noon to first, second and ninth place ribbons over fences and a second place under saddle to bring home the reserve championship, missing the championship tricolor by just one point. She also found success in the jumper ring, piloting Naomi to third, eleventh and thirteenth places in the Junior Jumpers. Partnered with Samson, her equitation mount, she also took fourth place in the ASPCA Maclay and eighth overall in the Washington International Horse Show Equitation class. The Dunwalke, LLC horses will show next with Thornton at the Washington International Horse Show from Oct. 9-14.
